about the international youth festival of circus art “Golden Kashtan”

  1. General provisions
    1.1. The International Youth Festival of Circus Art “Golden Chestnut” (hereinafter – the Festival) was founded by the NGO “National Fund for the Development of Circus Art named after Volodymyr Shevchenko”, with the support of the European Circus Association and is a competitive, voluntary event.

1.2. Working bodies of the Festival:

Festival Directorate;
Board of Trustees;
International Jury of the Festival.
1.3. The festival is held with the support of the Kyiv City State Administration. Other state, public, private enterprises and organizations, as well as other legal entities, such as the consolidation of the state, municipal and private sectors, may be involved in the Festival.

1.4. The purpose of the Festival:

international and domestic aspect in identifying and supporting talented gifted youth in circus art;
development of circus art, expansion of professional horizons, improvement of professional skills of young circus artists;
scientific study of Ukrainian circus art;
education in young performers of love and respect for the legacy of generations of artists of Ukrainian domestic circus art.
1.5. Tasks of the Festival:

wide promotion and further development of the best examples of Ukrainian and world art in circus genres;
promoting the growth of performance skills;
exchange of creative achievements in the genres of circus art;
development and enrichment of the traditions of Ukrainian national culture;
raising the image of Ukrainian circus performers;
promotion of state policy to support circus art as a component of Ukrainian national culture.

  1. Procedure and participants of the Festival
    2.1. The festival is held annually.

2.2. Ukrainian, foreign, professional, amateur circus performers and teams, students of specialized educational institutions, gifted youth can participate in the Festival in accordance with the recommendation of the selection commission appointed by the Festival Directorate.

2.3. Festival date: every year.

2.4. Venue: ?????????????????????

2.5. Participants of the festival can be professional, amateur, amateur, children’s circus groups, clown theaters, schools, studios, creative associations of cultural institutions, educational institutions and other departments, and individual performers.

2.6. Age restrictions for Festival participants: no older than 25 years. Minors must be accompanied by adults (supervisors or parents).

Age category up to 9 years;
Age category 10-13 years;
Age category 14-17 years;
Age category 18-25 years. (Amateurs, Professionals).
Age restrictions: no more than 1/4 participants of a different age are allowed in each of the age categories.

2.7. Basic requirements:

A circus team can submit no more than 3 numbers and one clown reprise (if any).
Clown theaters present no more than 3 reprises.
Performances of all teams must be performed to the soundtrack.
All phonograms must be recorded on flash media of high technical quality (if the recording quality of the phonogram is poor, the number will be removed from the competition).
The duration of solo and double numbers is no more than 5 minutes,
3 or more people can participate in group rooms (the number of team members is unlimited, the assistant is not a member of the room). The duration of the number is no more than 6 minutes.
The availability of technical passports for aerial number equipment and certificates for cable equipment.
It is necessary to have cable equipment of the correct “snag”, “shackle”, carabiners, rotating machines must have factory marking).
Air numbers that do not have means of insurance will not be considered.
The order of competitive performances is determined by the Organizing Committee.
The organizing committee has the right to remove from the festival program a number that endangers the health and life of the performer.
Numbers selected by jury members and the Festival Organizing Committee take part in the Gala concert.
2.8. The festival is held in two stages: the qualifying round, the competition and the Gala concert.

The first stage. – Pre-registration of participants for the festival is mandatory and takes place exclusively on the event website https://fest.national-circus-fund.com.ua in the registration section; – selection of candidates based on the video materials sent to the Organizing Committee of the festival, as well as those seen at other circus festivals and competitions.

The second stage: Takes place in ?????????????????????????.

2.9. Applications for participation in the Festival are accepted at the e-mail address goldenkashtan@gmail.com

2.10. Participation in the Festival is free. The expenses for travel and stay of accompanying persons of the contestants are borne by the persons who sent them.

2.11. All participants of the Festival receive commemorative gifts, and winners and prize-winners are awarded prizes.

2.12. Public, other organizations and private individuals have the right to set special prizes and awards for Festival participants at their own expense in agreement with the Organizing Committee.

2.13. Confirmation of participation in the festival is:

Official invitation.
The selection criterion is the assessment of artistic qualities: novelty, originality, high performing skill. declared

and documents and video materials are not subject to return.

2.14. Mandatory for all participants: The artist’s participation in the Festival means his agreement with the principles and rules written in the Regulations on the Festival. Participants of the Festival are obliged to participate in the gala performance and television filming for the purpose of promoting circus art without payment.

  1. Organization of the Festival
    3.1. To prepare and hold the Festival, an Organizational Committee is formed, the composition of which is approved by the founders of the Festival. The functions of the Organizing Committee can be fully or partially delegated to one of the founders of the festival.

3.2. Organizing Committee:

develops the Festival program;
conducts the selection of Festival participants;
approves the composition of the jury;
examines and approves samples of advertising products (booklets, posters, programs);
provides media coverage of festival events.
3.3. For the organization and conduct of the Festival, the Directorate and the directing and production group of the Festival may be created.

3.4. To implement the functions of organizing the Festival, each founder can create his own organizational committee (within the limits of a separate enterprise), undertake obligations, conclude contracts, etc.

3.5. The expenses and obligations of the founders of the festival for the provision of the Festival are extended to other founders only on the basis of written documents on joining the obligation, provided that expenses and responsibilities are clearly divided between the founders. Joining the obligation is possible even after its fulfillment.

4. Jury of the festival:
4.1. The International Jury of the Festival is formed by the Directorate of the Festival, taking into account the wishes of the Board of Trustees, consists of outstanding figures of culture and art of Ukraine, leaders of world-famous circuses, directors of International Circus Festivals of various countries, world experts in the field of circus art, and is approved by the president of the international festival.

4.2. Persons who took part in the creation of circus numbers – participants of the Festival cannot be included in the composition of the Jury of the Festival. The decisions of the jury are the exclusive right of the jury, they are not subject to review and review.

4.3. Evaluation criteria:

The degree of professionalism of the performers;
Originality of performance;
The complexity of the trick repertoire;
The evaluation of the number takes into account the original directorial decision and innovation.
The evaluation of the performance of the contestants is carried out after the end of each performance of the number. Each member of the jury independently determines the number of points. Then the total number of points of each number is calculated. The winner is the contestant who scored the most points. The decision of the jury is formalized in a protocol signed by the members of the jury, the protocol is handed over to the organizing committee after the end of the competitive screenings of the festival.

4.4. Awarding of winners: The winners of the festival are evaluated by the jury, according to the protocols.

4.5. According to the results of the competition, the following are awarded:

Grand Prix of the festival

1-“Golden Kashtan”, 1-“Silver Kashtan”, 1-“Bronze Kashtant”;
Age group 10-14 years:
1 piece – “Golden Kashtan”, 1 piece – “Silver Kashtan”, 1 piece – “Bronze Kashtan”;
Age group 15-17 years:
1 piece – “Golden Kashtan”, 1 piece – “Silver Kashtan”, 1 piece – “Bronze Kashtan”;
Age group 18-25 years:
1 piece – “Golden Kashtan”, 1 piece – “Silver Kashtan”, 1 piece – “Bronze Kashtan”;
The prize of audience sympathy
Prize for the youngest participant
Special diplomas for individual numbers:

The best idea for a solo number;
The best idea for a group number;
Special prize of the NGO “National Fund for the Development of Circus Arts named after Volodymyr Shevchenko”
The organizing committee, jury, administration, sponsors, patrons and guests of the festival have the right to organize impromptu contests for festival participants during the festival. Diplomas and prizes for impromptu contests are established, awarded, and paid in full by their organizers.

  1. Funding of the Festival
    5.1. Funding of the Festival is provided by:

Due to the funds of the founders (funds of enterprises received from their economic activity);
At the expense of other sources and revenues not prohibited by current legislation.
